FACT- the living room is my favorite room in the house. HANDS DOWN. For some, its the primary bedroom, or the kitchen, or the closet, or even the craftroom. For me, as long as I can remember it was the living room.
When we moved into this house almost every room was painted in Olive (or as Stephen calls it, baby poop). We tried to make it work for three months. Nope.
At this point it was just a sitting room. A room for sitting…. Yeah, nooo. This was the beginning of our longterm glow up!
After we painted the room Snowed In from Valspar, it was like a breath of fresh air.
That fresh coat of paint ended up being a decorating slippery slope! Not only did we want to change colors, we wanted to change function!
We started by moving the furniture around. I knew I wanted a TV in there. My other half fought me on that and lost wonderfully. It is a living room after all, and one should "live" comfortably in it!
For the longest time I was afraid of light furniture. When we made the switch to a cream upholstered rolled arm sofa, we both fell in love with how it opened up the room. We even swapped out the console table for a modern white rattan media cabinet, not to mention the brown accent chair.
Heck, we even got out hands on a fawn colored loveseat. Hello mix and match!
Fast forward some more mixing of furniture and a few years later, we added the board and batten wall recently. It was a PITA, but sooooo worth it. It completely changed how the room felt!
And then there was the addition of the PBS (Pottery Barn Sofa). This room called out for a York Slope Arm Slipcovered Sofa... Hollered practically! That gem elevated the space to a whole new level. it was something we always wanted and having it here has been a dream.
We even somewhat started a ritual where when I get home from work, we have a glass of cab on the PBS and catch up on your days with each other.
I am tell you, the PBS is magic. It's that little extra sparkle that the living room needed.
Is the glow up done? HA! NEVER! I still need art over the sofa. And we all know I will be switching up the pillows... anytime soon! =)
Well, it is getting late and I need to get off this sofa and head to bed. The love for this room has been a journey with amazing turns. And it is still going!
Until next time!
